The January 25th meeting to discuss prospects for the dairy farming sector will also involve representatives from NFU Cymru and the FUW.

Glyn Davies, AM for Mid and West Wales, said today: "The milk sector in Wales is suffering badly with many people deserting the industry every week. For many farmers the price they are being paid is lower than the cost of production.

"It is absolutely essential that the production side of the dairy industry engages with the major retailers who have become so hugely dominant in the market. I am grateful to both Sainsbury's and Tesco's for coming to meet our Committee and the Welsh farming unions.
