"To help producers made the correct management decisions, we've developed a series of one-day meetings," said Mike Hutjens, U of I Extension dairy specialist. "These meetings are designed to help producers make the most of their resources and remain a productive part of the dairy industry.

"Each meeting features advice from specialists on health, management, economics, and feed strategies."

The Illinois Department of Public Health is also providing support for the program.

Topics are presented by U of I Extension dairy specialists and educators and U of I dairy veterinarians. Included on the agenda are: Modifying Heifer Growth, What Does It Really Cost to Produce Milk, Managing Compost-bedded Dairy Barns, Bedding Choices: Mastitis Control and Cow Comfort, Milk Urea Nitrogen, Estate Planning, Livestock Manure, and Positioning Sexed Semen in Your Breeding Program.

With the exception of the Jerseyville location, all programs begin at 9:45 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. To gain further details about each location and possible registration fees, contact your local Extension office.
