Fonterra issues new manuals on dairy effluent, irrigation and water quality
NEW ZEALAND - Fonterra has issued up to date guides for dairy farmers and consultants, on effluent management, irrigation and water quality.

Recent compliance surveys by the Waikato and Canterbury Regional Councils have brought effluent management to the fore.
The surveys found a significant number of farmers are still flouting the regulations and allowing cowshed discharges to pollute waterways.
Fonterra's technical services manager Shane Lodge says the two manuals are comprehensive and the result of extensive consultation. They replace documents produced a decade ago.
Copies of the manual can be obtained on CD from Fonterra.
