US Dairy Products Statistics
US - The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) comment on the dairy product production such as cheese, butter etc. in their monthly Dairy Products Report.
August 2006 Highlights
Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 787 million pounds, 3.9 percent above August 2005 and 2.5 percent above July 2006.
Italian type cheese production totaled 331 million pounds, 6.4 percent above August 2005 and 4.1 percent above July 2006.
American type cheese production totaled 318 million pounds, 2.0 percent above August 2005 but 3.0 percent below July 2006.
Butter production was 89.2 million pounds, 4.3 percent below August 2005 and 5.7 percent below July 2006.
Frozen dessert: (comparisons with August 2005)
Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 84.5 million gallons, down 5.2 percent.
Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 37.6 million gallons, up 5.5 percent.
Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.35 million gallons, down 29.2 percent.
Sherbet (hard) --- 4.72 million gallons, down 16.1 percent.
Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 6.87 million gallons, up 11.8 percent.
Nonfat dry milk for human food: (compared with August 2005) --- 74.4 million pounds, down 14.2 percent.
Dry whey products: (comparisons with August 2005)
Dry whey, human --- 83.5 million pounds, up 4.0 percent.
Dry whey, animal --- 5.49 million pounds, down 23.5 percent.
Dry whey, total --- 89.0 million pounds, up 1.8 percent.
