RABDF Welcomes COOL for Cheese

UK - The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers has welcomed MEPs agreement to back proposals to introduce country of origin labeling on all imported products which will include dairy.

“The move is a huge step in the right direction, in particular for cheese,” says RABDF chairman, David Cotton.

“Country of origin labeling of cheese is an issue we have campaigned long and hard for in an attempt to stem escalating imports which last year amounted to 128,000 tonnes, the equivalent of over 1.2 billion litres of liquid milk representing approximately 10% of total production. It should also increase consumer demand for British cheese.”
