Four milk processors last week announced they would be paying about 40 per cent less for milk this financial year, reports ABCNews.

According to ABCNews, the UDV's Chris Griffin says some farmers will be producing milk at a loss.

He says he will meet Victorian Agriculture Minister Joe Helper this week to discuss the impacts the price cut will have on country towns.

"We'll be working quite hard to make sure that the Government understands ... the impacts of this," Mr Griffin said.
