Chilean Cattle Test Positive to TB

CHILE - 30,000 head of cattle, on 12 farms have been quarantined in the far south of Chile, after several cattle tested positive to TB.

There is a cattle herd in the region, of close to 200,000 head and the quarantine is a precautionary measure, reports Farming UK.

The news association says that Chile’s Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG), moved very quickly to try and contain the problem The area of southern Chile, known as the Magallanes, has had a TB eradication scheme in place for some time and there have never been any serious outbreaks in the past.

The government is going to monitor meat and dairy produce, the reactor cattle will go for immediate slaughter.
