Print This Page Milk Producers/Processors Meeting.
BULGARIA - Bulgarian Prime Minister Peter Dimitrov says that Bulgarian milk industry professionals want the Economy and Energy Ministry to exercise control over the quality of dairy products and regulate trademark matters, according to the Bulgarian Telegraphic Agency (BTA).Dimitrov met with milk producers and processors in Sofia in early September. The meeting discussed problems in the sector and the pricing policies of producers and traders.
It was agreed that within a month, proposals will be made concerning policy changes and legislative revisions that will give the government greater powers to suppress price speculation and "shadow" prices in the dairy industry, said BTA. Two problems mentioned as facing the industry were illegal purchase of unprocessed Bulgarian milk and labour shortages.
