FMD Suspected to Have Killed 70 Dairy Cows in Thailand

THAILAND - Over 70 dairy cows have died from, and 1,700 others infected with suspected foot-and-mouth disease in Saraburi, central Thailand, local media reported on Monday (13 January).

Dairy farmers said they will be petitioning to Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Agriculture Minister Chalermchai Sri-on to seek urgent help.

Farmers in Tambon Lamphaya Klang, a district in Saraburi where most of the dairy cows were reported to have been infected, reported that their cows started to show symptoms of the highly infectious disease since 5 January.
