12 September 2013

US – Dairy spot trades led to changes in Cheese values with Blocks and Barrels both closing over a cent higher at the end of Wednesday's trading.

Blocks closed at $1.8400, two cents higher and Barrels closed up to $1.8125 after two trades added 1.25 cents leaving a 2.75 cent gap.

Active bidding pushed Non-fat Dry Milk half a cent high to close at $.1.8200.

Little activity was seen elsewhere in the spot market but the Chicago Mercantile Exchange reported a seven cent rise for Class III milk up to $18.23. Class IV inched three cents higher to $19.45.

The trend yesterday was for an increase in value which was seen across all other September dairy futures, including a two cent increase in September butter.
