GLOBAL – Dairy prices slowed their fall although still dropped 1.1 per cent globally through July, according to a World Food and Agriculture Organisation Report.

The FAO’s dairy price index averaged 236.3 points last month.

Tighter availability in Oceania and limited production in Europe, South America and the US meant the drop was not as severe as May and June.

An FAO spokesperson said that limited supplies continued to ‘underpin’ milk powder prices but the drop in cheese prices offset this. This was because of a lull in cheese import demand.
