Praising the ‘combat poverty’ policies of past leader President Chavez, Minister Nicolas Maduro confirmed, along with other members of the cabinet, that both meat and milk yields had increased.

Annual meat consumption in Venezuela is now up to 30 kilos per head, of which 60-70 per cent is produced domestically. Overall this means a 50 per cent rise in meat production per capita and a 70 per cent increase in volume.

Dairy farmers in the country now produce 73 per cent of milk consumed, a total of 95 litres per head annually with 130 litres per capita being produced overall.
