Steady growth in the first six months was countered by declining production levels from July to December.

Despite difficult autumn and winter conditions, the growth rate of 2012 remained positive- increasing 0.5 per cent.

This is reflected in a tonnage rise of 50,000 tons on 2011 levels, rising to 10,875,971 tons.

Most productivity was seen in March and April when volume was at its highest for the year and 50,000 tons greater than that of the previous year.

From mid-July 2012 volumes fell behind levels on the previous year and stayed below till the year end.
