FAO Announce Dairy Integration Success
SOUTH AMERICA - The general assembly of the United Nations has worked with dairy farmers in Latin America to analyse farms, supply chain structures and pilot cooperative integration in Nicaragua, Ecuador and Paraguay.

Prominent in the UN scheme "Cooperative enterprises help build a better world" is the aims of reducing poverty, creating employment and facilitating social integration.
Three case studies make up the report which evaluates the cooperatives as successful ventures, which along with other rural institutions are vital in the struggle against undernourishment and food safety.
Increasing awareness of the benefits that operating in a cooperative can bring and guiding governments to regulate and promote cooperatives through legislation are the main outcomes of the project.
Feeding 9billion people by 2050 is the target and the UN believe that improving farm bargaining power and market structures globally are the key to success.
