In a meeting including members of private and public organisations within the dairy industry and the Paraguayan Society of Nutrition Deputy Livestock Minister, Dr Hamann spoke of the potential he saw for expansion in the dairy industry and detailed the National Plan for Sustainable Dairy Chain Development.

The policy includes disease control such as brucellosis and tuberculosis eradication and the improvement of immunisation record keeping which were discussed at the meeting. Also at the heart of the policy was the inclusion of small scale producers in the supply chain.

The meeting concluded hoping that the national health of the herd can be improved and consequently so can the intake of dairy products by the public and the exports of milk abroad, boosting agricultural productivity.
