OIE: Anthrax Reported in Slovakia
SLOVAKIA - Dr Jozef Bires , Director & Chief Veterinary Officer , State Veterinary and Food Administration , Ministry of Agriculture has announced cases of Anthrax in the Presov region.

Two farms in Staškovce, Stropkov have been found to have cattle infected with the virus.
In total 189 animals are thought to be affected on the two farms; the animals range from calves under 6 months to stock over 24 months of age.
In total there are 227 cattle believe to be susceptible with 4 cases and 4 deaths.
The measures being applied are, quarantine,
disinfection of infected premises and treatment of infected animals with antibiotics. One response to the outbreak still to be applied is vaccination.
