Union Wants Clarity on Fonterra Factory Job Losses

AUSTRALIA - The union representing workers at Fonterra's factory at Cororooke, in south-west Victoria, says the company needs to provide more details about possible job losses at the site.

The dairy processor will close its soft cheese and butter factory in June next year, threatening 130 jobs, reports ABCRural.

Darren Stiles, from the National Union of Workers, says Fonterra hasn't provided details of redundancies.

"They said at this stage it may be brought forward, it may be later depending on where the work will go, so the issues I have with that (are) it's a bit of uncertainty for our members," he told ABC Rural.

"They really need to know definite dates, or are there going to be part-areas that are going to be closed over a period of time?"
