Pilot Project to Improve Dairy Production

COLOMBIA - The Colombian Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the University of Antioquia are to join forces to improve the production and quality of milk in the dairy department backed by an investoment of 1.6 billion pesos.

The programme will be launched during a visit to the dairy region of Antioquia bythe Agriculture Minister Juan Camilo Restrepo Salazar.

The is a pilot project aims to improve pastures and pastoral programmes, networking, cold storage facilities and breeding.

It is intended that the programme should be a model that can be replicated in other dairy areas.

To develop the plan, the MARD will provide 1 billion pesos, the Government 500 million pesos and the University of Antioquia more than 80 million pesos.
