OIE: Brucellosis Outbreaks Reported in France

FRANCE - Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis outbreaks have been reported to the OIE.

An outbreak of Brucella melitensis (which affects the reproductive system) occurred at Le Grand-Bornand, Haute-Savoie.

The outbreak resulted in one case from the 22 susceptible and led to 22 to be slaughtered.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.

The outbreak of Brucella abortus was reported at Saint Hilaire Cottes, Pas-De-Calais where there was one case from the 1188 susceptible. The outbreak led to the slaughter of 1188 cattle.

the source of the outbreak is thought to be due to the introduction of new live animals.
