UK Slaughter Statistics: Cattle And Beef - April 2010

UK - Prime cattle slaughterings were five per cent higher than in March 2009 at 164,000 head. Beef and veal production was 70,000 tonnes, nine per cent higher than in March 2009.

The latest statistics published by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) cover this year to the end of March 2010.

UK monthly home-killed production of beef was 78,000, 71,000 and 70,000 tonnes in January, February and March 2010, respectively. January was a five-week month, while February and March each had four weeks.
