The United Dairyfarmers of Victoria (UDV) President, Chris Griffin, said that the industry had been working with the government to identify potential initiatives to help ease the burden for dairy farmers struggling with the impact of the global financial crisis and consequent low milk price.

“The new Dairy Transition Support Service, aimed at giving dairy farmers the support they need to make long term decisions, will be rolled out first in the North of the state and then extended to other areas of Victoria where dairy farmers have faced an increase in financial stress,” said Mr Griffin.
