Irish Farmers at EC Protest
IRELAND - The Irish Dairy Board has warned that the industry could suffer long term damage unless the Euroepan Commission supports the farmers and the processors during the current crisis.

The dairy board chairman Michael Cronin isasues the warning during protests in Luxembourg on Monday.
He said the difficulties being faced by the sector were unprecedented, accordign to a report in the Irish Independent.
He said it was the worst crisis the industry had ever seen and he warned that organisations like his own Newmarket Co-op which was supporting the prices by 1.5 cents a litre could not be sustained.
He said it was crucial the suppliers got a better price, the Independent reports.
The protests ssaw about 100 Irish farmers and mor than 4,000 milk suppliers from across Europe demonstrate outside the farm m inisters meeting.
