Print This Page Milk Risk Analyis Will Tell: Achari
FIJI - The likelihood of milk being imported from Malaysia depends on the results of an import risk analysis, says a senior Ministry of Agriculture official."We are restricting import because we are trying to do an import risk analysis," said acting principal veterinary officer Doctor Robin Achari.
"After all this, we might allow it into the country. I am trying to assess if there is any risk," Dr Achari said. He said he was in the process of compiling his report.
The move comes after imports of Australian Sunshine Junior milk were stopped because the milk is now packed in Malaysia.
Dr Achari said Fiji only allowed milk to be imported from Australia and New Zealand.
"We are trying to review our legislation. We cannot import milk from a third country," he said.
