Former NFU presidents urge President-Elect Biden to take action against climate change

18 December 2020

Former presidents of the US National Farmers Union have penned a letter to President-Elect Biden, urging him to advance US climate leadership.

In a letter sent this week, several former Farmers Union presidents urged President-elect Joe Biden to "revitalize rural America and advance US climate leadership on the world stage."

The signatories, including Roger Johnson, Tom Buis, Dave Fredrickson, and Leland Swenson, outlined their climate priorities for the incoming administration, highlighting opportunities to mitigate climate change while also stimulating economic growth and creating jobs. More specifically, they recommended that Biden throw his support behind policies and programs that establish carbon markets and expand the use of biofuels.
