Cattle in East Kazakhstan Affected by FMD
KAZAKHSTAN - The Kazakhstani veterinary authorities have reported an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in cattle and sheep.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification yesterday, 22 August. The outbreak took place in the village of Kurchumskiy in East Kazakhstan.
According to the report, a total of 770 cattle was found susceptible to the disease, out of which 33 cases were reported. While no deaths were recorded, 69 animals were destroyed.
The report states that clinical signs such as loss of appetite, fever, salivation and oral lesions were observed in the animals.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
