More Cattle and Swine Hit by FMD

SOUTH KOREA - The Korean veterinary authorities have reported three new outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (FMD), affecting cattle and swine populations.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no.4 yesterday, 15 December. All outbreaks took place on Tuesday, 14 December, according to the latest report.

A total of 2400 swine were reported as susceptible to the disease, out of which three cases were identified. All 2400 animals were destroyed.

In the case of cattle, a total of 146 were found susceptible and one was affected. All animals were destroyed.

The cause of the outbreak remains unknown.
