German Tractor Blockade Impedes Supermarket Deliveries

GERMANY – German dairy farmers assembled on upermarket warehouses to protest about the continued unsustainable milk prices, German media has reported.

An estimated 200 tractors blockaded a central warehouse of supermarket chain Edeka last week.

Trucks had to crawl into the Lower Saxony site to access the warehouse on September 20, according to German magazine Focus.

The following day, 400 farmers and 200 tractors descended on trading company Bunting in northern Germany following a producer price cut.

News portal Agrarheute reported that farmer organisations, including the European Milk Board, participated in the demonstration.
