The programme intends to help producers “improve the quality of their product”, reported the ministry of agriculture last week.

Delegates heard requisitioned funds would be channelled into projects to train and qualify workers in the dairy supply chain, subject to application to the government.

“Companies and dairy cooperatives must submit technical assistance projects to the ministry of agriculture focusing on agricultural management, good agricultural practices and improving the productivity of the dairy herd, as well as breeding and education,” said Bruno Leite, advisor at the Rural Producer Cooperatives Secretariat.

Companies present at the meeting included; Viva Dairy, Nestle, RFB, G100, Embare, Marajoara, Polenghi, Knebworth, Goias Minas, Sindilat/RS, South Lacto, Manaca, Ben Food, Cemil and some dairy coops.
