BELGIUM – Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina has made a move to take over Belgian-based mozzarella maker Fabrelac.
Competition authorities are still to approve the acquisition of the 30 million kilo per year outfit.The 30,000 square metre production facility started production in 1993.
Bas van den Berg, executive director of FrieslandCampina Cheese, Butter and Milkpowder said: “With this acquisition, we will be expanding our production capacity by adding a modern and efficient production facility close to our cooperative base.
“The transaction will enable us to offer our customers a wide range of mozzarella products in addition to our existing cheese portfolio.”
