Feed conditions have started an “improvement” in feed conditions, reports Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

Some parts of Queensland reported ‘very much above average’ precipitation, with Victoria and the eastern half of New South Wales measuring similar volumes.

This was the case across the entire Northern Territory and northern Western Australia, although southern Western Australian recorded ‘below average’ rainfall which, along with western Victoria, were the only two livestock producing regions to do so.

More rainfall is required, given soil moisture deficits. Eastern states slaughter will be monitored closely to gauge the impact of rainfall on producer turn-off intentions, added the MLA.
