Monovalent rabies vaccines are being recommended to producers in conjunction with foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccines registered with the Colombian Agricultural Institute.

The period of FMD vaccinations, which started on October 27, will finish on December 10, said the Ministry of Agriculture.

There has been 280 bat catching days, targeted at areas with a high disease presence.

Explaining the diagnostic protocol, the ministry said: “ICA officials visit the site, take samples for diagnosis and test them.

“They then give recommendations relevant to prevent transmission and dissemination.”
