Nestle Commits to Bovine Traceability

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Food and drinks company Nestle has signed an agreement to roll out a cattle traceability system across its supplying dairy farms.

A commitment to promote herd health and sanitation, to be paid for by Nestle initially, will be paid by price deductions from farm cheques over a twelve week period.

Dr Toribio, general livestock director at the government signed the agreement with Claude Mamboury, chief executive of Nestle Dominica last week.

He said: "For us this is a step forward in the goal of recording and incorporates 2.5 million livestock. So far, have traced 24 000 head of cattle.”
