Rajkot Dairy Installs State-of-the-art Milk Processing Plant

INDIA - Rajkot District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (RDCMPUL), known as Rajkot Dairy has set up a state-of-the-art milk processing plant.

The plant has been set up in assistance with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and is first of its kind of processing plant in India.

The plant is currently running on trail basis and will be fully operational in the next month.

After commencing full operations, the dairy’s capacity will increase by another 300,000 liters taking the total processing capacity to 600,000 liters.

Of the overall investment of $17 million, 82 per cent of the fund has been invested by NDDB and the balance of 18 per cent is invested by Rajkot Dairy.

The new processing plant is fully automatic and plant machineries have been imported from Germany, France and Canada.

Apart from this, Rajkot Dairy will set up a chilling centre near Wankaner with an investment of $1.65 million which will have a storage capacity of 100,000 liters. NDDB will fund $920,000 for this project, while the dairy will manage the remaining fund.

The dairy is also planning to set up a fully automatic packaging plant in near future.

The turnover of Rajkot Dairy rose by 13.50 per cent to Rs 580 crore in 2013-14 from Rs 511 crore in 2012-13.

Net profit of the dairy increased by 62 per cent to $930,000 in 2013-14 from $573,938 during 2012-13, whereas, turnover rose by 13.50 per cent to $96.20 million in 2013-14 from $84.76 million in 2012-13.

The dairy's average milk procurement stood at 387,000 litres in 2013-14.

Rajkot Dairy is a member of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets its products under the brand Amul.
