International Dairy Cow Longevity Conference All Set for St Petersburg in May

RUSSIA - Dairy machinery manufacturer DeLaval has announced a global conference on dairy cow longevity, to take place next month.

A wide variety of expertise and insight will be showcased at the DeLaval cow longevity conference next month

The conference Productive longevity of cows will take place on May 28-30 2014 in St Petersburg and centre on practical health measures with reproduction, dairy herd economics at the forefront.

The conference aspires to help Russian dairy farms towards profitability through talks given by leading cow health scientists, farmers and DeLaval representatives. 

The entire list includes:

  • Vladimir Vitalyevich Labinoff, Master of Agriculture, director of livestock breeding Department of Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Vladimir Nikolaevich Surovcev, Ph.D. in Economics, supervisor of economical and organizing problems of agriculture branches development, assistant professor in North-West Research Institute of Economy and Agriculture organizing.
  • Rustem Betlyaeff, vice-director of APK department of the Tyumen Region.
  • Vasily Mikhailovich Rukol, Doctor of Veterinary Science, Member of the Vitebsk State Academy of veterinary medicine.
  • Charlotte Hallen Sandgren, Doctor of Science, director of milk production research department, DeLaval International AB

By advising on key welfare topics, the conference aims to make dairy cow profitable for longer and look at milk production over a life time, rather than per lactation. 

Food security, dairy cow nutrition and feeding, livestock handling, insemination, genetics and veterinary protection are all examples of broader spectrum topics to be explored at the conference.
