Daily Dairy Trading: Spot Price Butter Rises

US – Dairy spot commodities have remained high in the New Year and increased for Butter yesterday.

A total of four trades and two bids lifted Butter prices five cents to $1.6200 on Monday. This is substantially above the prior week average of $1.5413, according to government data.

Elsewhere, both Cheddar quantities lifted; 0.75 cents for Blocks and 3.00 cents for Barrels. The Agricultural Marketing Service reported that Blocks are currently averaging $2.0500 and Barrels are $1.8825.

Nonfat Dry Milk Grade A closed 1.25 cents higher to $2.0800 whereas Extra Grade managed $2.0900.

In the futures market, January Class III closed unchanged on $20.06, Class IV finished on $21.77.

January Cheese finished Monday’s trading at $1.9820 and Whey closed on $0.5850. Nonfat Dry Milk ended above two dollars at $2.0035.
