Daily Dairy Trading: Prices Maintain Ground With Some Gains, Wednesday

US – The dairy market posted yet more gains in futures trading as spot Cheddar lifted substantially, Wednesday.

Class III and IV January Milk, January Cheese and Butter futures made gains as spot price action lifted Cheddar Blocks and Barrels to $1.9725 and Barrels to $1.8900, up 2.25 cents and five cents respectively.

Cheddar has continued to build above last week’s prices, over five cents above the previous week average for Barrels and over six cents for Blocks.

Across other spot commodities, prices finished unchanged from Tuesday’s close.

The Agricultural Marketing Service reported two trades for Butter at $1.5500, with one bid for Nonfat Dry Milk Grade A being the only other activity yesterday.

Class III January Milk ended 10 cents higher at $19.22, Class IV closed four cents up, at $21.78.

January Cheese closed 80 cents higher at $1.8930.
