Dr Paul Livingstone, a leading bTB expert, has prepared a presentation to be given next week that will discuss New Zealand’s experience of eradicating TB.

Speaking from a wealth of national level disease policy experience, he will outline the current disease threat in Chile, analyse risk from cattle movements and discuss disease hot-spots.

He will also address the effect of wildlife on disease epidemiology.

Dr Livingstone has worked at the Animal Health Board as TB eradication and research manager and was awarded a Queens Service Order in 2011.

Regional director of the agricultural and livestock service (SAG) Ramon Henriquez said: “Eradicating bTB has been one of the greatest concerns of President Sebastian Pinera.”

“For example, he initiated a national programme in 2011 which is being developed in conjunction with the University of Austral in Santa Fe Province.”

The talk will be held on 4 November, at the Hotel Diego de Almagro, entitled, Experience New Zealand in control and eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis.
