Processors and Producers Guided on Food Safety and Expansion02 October 2013
EL SALVADOR – Dairy industry representatives met last week to discuss hygeine in the dairy supply chain and processing control mechanisms to minimise food safety scares.
Producers were also present at the seminar Agricultural Safety Systems in the Dairy Sector which was arranged as part of the government’s Family Agriculture policy.
Food safety regulations, manufacturing practices and traceability were at the forefront of the talks, led by Victor Manuel Torres, Director General of the Livestock Ministry of Agriculture.
Other goals extended to market access and competitiveness.
Mr Torres said: “Agricultural policy drives the dairy chain, with technical support in animal health, herd management and incentives around agricultural production, processors and producers can market and launch their products.”
Also in attendance was Dr David Guerra, a consultant and adviser from Chile who presented the Chilean perspective on exports and quality controls in processing.
