FMD in Masvingo Affects More Cattle
ZIMBABWE - The Zimbabwean veterinary authorities have reported another outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Masvingo, affecting more cattle.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 4 yesterday (20 August). According to the report, the result for a reverse transcription - polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test carried out at the Central Veterinary Laboratory is still pending.
A total of 2145 showed signs of susceptibility, out of which 41 cases were reported. There were no reported deaths, and no animals were destroyed.
Illegal movement of animals and contact with wild species have been identified as the main source of the outbreak.
