Newcomers Impress in April

AUSTRIA – Breed progress has been boosted by the addition of some attractive young animals to the genomic breeding index, according to the April breeding value estimation.

Swiss Brown

Although there were no new entrants in the tested segment the number of young bulls continued to grow, hailed as good news for the breed.

Hobbit, son of Huxoy, heads a range of interesting new comers with major strengths in milk yield and conformation.

Likewise the young bull Vivid, son of Vigor, sets new standards for appearance and udder health and quality. The all-round bull of the selection is Pirlo from the bull Payssli.

Also of note was Eastfrog, son of Easton, with traits for milk yields of above 1600 kg.

Holsteins

One of the world’s most sought after bulls is Mascalese, son of Bolton. High milk yields and excellent carcass values are impressing breeders. The value for money shout is Leko, son of Laudan which covers all bases as an across the board performer.

Young bull short lists include Boss a son of Bookem. Boss has achieved an ‘outstanding’ inheritance profile.

Fanatic, Ranger and Nog Ikaro have been recommended as good general performers in the newcomers list.
