Entitled ‘Investing for the Future’ the event is aimed at farmers, large animal vets, supply trade professionals and anyone else involved with dairy herds of 300 or more.

Latest research, management advice and practical techniques will be showcased by a global selection of leading academics and professionals.

The aim of the talks is to give the audience an idea of how to boost performance and efficiency in an economically sustainable way.

Opening the seminar will be Dr Ric Grummer, emeritus professor at the University of Wisconsin who will deliver a talk entitled ‘Strategies to help metabolic stress in the freshly-calved cow’. Dr Nicola Walker, Lallemand Animal Nutrition will follow on with ‘Ruminant Enzymes: The future of dairy cow nutrition?’

Academics from the University of Nottingham, Minnesota and the Wisconsin School of Veterinary medicine will deliver talks on vitally important areas such as mastitis control and digital dermatitis.

On Wednesday highlights include, ‘Managing the expanding herd’, to be presented by Gordy Jones of Central Sands Dairy.This will be followed in the afternoon by Martin Moos, a German dairy farmer who will describe his recently developed farm in a talk entitled, ‘Growing my business: 2500 cows in Germany’.

Panel sessions will provide a discussion platform for those willing to learn more from the speakers about herd expansion and business development. The event, held at the Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel, Wotton-under-Edge, South Gloucestershire runs from Tuesday 25th to Wednesday 26th June 2013.
