OIE: Rabies Identitified in Greece After 25 Years
GREECE – Two new outbreaks of Rabies have been confirmed in foxes.

Director of Animal Health, Spiros Doudounakis submitted a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health on Sunday 7 April involving two wild foxes in the Kilkis region of Kentriki Makedonia - in the north of the country.
The first affected animal was found in the village of Vafeiohori on April 1 with another outbreak confirmed in Horygi six days later. Both cases were manifested as sub-clinical infections and according to the OIE is a recurrence of a disease last noted in 1987.
Both animals were found through passive rabies surveillance and have been declared dead.
The reports followed testing at the Institute of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases where three different tests returned positive results for rabies.
