State Announces Chaco Wide FMD Scheme22 February 2013
ARGENTINA – A Food and Mouth vaccination campaign for the Chaco region has been scheduled to begin in March, the National Service for Animal Health and Quality and the Ministry of Production have confirmed.
Launching on 4 March a 60 day inoculation programme will be run across all livestock units in the province including breeding stock and buffaloes. The scheme will also include brucellosis vaccination of 3-8 month old calves.
Currently recognised as FMD free, Argentina and its beef sector depend on successful vaccinations for beef profitability and trade opportunity.
FMD vaccination programmes are on-going north of the Colorado River with Patagonia being free from vaccinations.
