The new Beef from Dairy village will include technical talks from Teagasc, Bord Bia, trade experts etc. Two major beef processors - Dunbia Ireland and Slaney Foods (part of Linden Group) have kindly agreed to sponsor this initiative. According to show coordinator Richard Whelan: “We have strong support from all the major beef breed societies and as we await the abolition of milk quotas there are many opportunities to develop a profitable cattle enterprise (contract calf rearing, calf to beef, cull cows etc) on dairy farms."

Also new is an international dairy conference sponsored by Alltech, who have their European HQ at Dunboyne. Cathal McCormack, Country Manager for Alltech says: “This conference is of great interest to all milk producers.”

Karen McBride from Wondermilk, Beijing will talk on milk prospects in China and Nigel Lok, a milk producer from South Africa will speak on using technology to maximise production from grass.

Emerald Expo 2012 has the valued support of Agriaware, ASA, Bord Bia, Deprtment of Agriculture & Food, ICMSA, IFA, Macra, Teagasc and major sponsors including AIB, Dairymaster, FBD Insurance, Glanbia Plc and Pfizer Animal Health.
