Live Cattle Exports Down 20 Per Cent
AUSTRALIA - Australia’s live cattle exports during November increased 14 per cent year-on-year, to 59,634 head (Australian Bureau of Statistics), reports Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

MLA states that Indonesia remained the largest export destination for live cattle, taking 34,712 head in November, falling eight per cent on October 2011 and 12 per cent on November 2010.The other markets to receive cattle throughout the month included Russia (14,208 head), Philippines (5,500 head), China (2,333 head) and Pakistan (1,482 head).
While monthly shipments were up on last year, the number of cattle exported for January to November totalled 625,435 head, a decrease of 20 per cent on the corresponding period in 2010. In terms of export returns, shipments to the end of November have been valued at A$564 million FOB.
