OIE: Anthrax Threat To Cattle & Hogs Reported

CROATIA - A new outbreak of Anthrax has been reported to the OIE by Dr Sanja Separovic, Director, Veterinary Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (MAFRD), Zagreb, Croatia.

There has been one outbreak of Anthrax reported to the OIE.

The outbreak occurred in Bobovac, Sunja, SISACKO-MOSLAVACKA.

The outbreak effects the whole country.

So far, the outbreak has resulted in one case in a horse which has led to one death. However seven cattle and six pigs are susceptible.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.

Control measures currently being applied include:

  • Quarantine
  • No vaccination in response to the outbreak
  • No treatment of affected animals
