Simon Mellor is Animax Ltd’s new ruminant specialist for the north of England while Charles Mackenzie has taken on Mr Mellor's previous role of sales representative for Scotland.

Mr Mellor says he is looking forward to bringing his experience in the animal health sector to his new position. “Whilst our competitors might focus solely on livestock nutrition Animax approaches it from an animal health aspect. We look at the health status of ruminants, not just nutrition," he said.

“Every farm is different and for that reason we need to understand the needs of each and every one of our customers, it’s about talking to farmers and not just selling them a product. We regularly reassess their needs to make sure they are using our products as efficiently and as effectively as possible."

Mr Mellor studied agriculture at college and has gained practical experience by working on a dairy farm in Cheshire. He was also employed by a veterinary chemist in Dumfries and Galloway for a number of years.

Charles MacKenzie joins Animax

Charles MacKenzie joins Animax Ltd from McCaskie Farm Supplies where he worked as a sales representative serving the dairy sector. His link to agriculture goes back to his childhood when he was brought up on a beef and sheep farm in Scotland.

After leaving school he worked on dairy farms for six years and later ran his own contracting business specialising in the grassland sector before taking up his post at McCaskie Farm Supplies.

Mr MacKenzie, who lives in Stanley, Perthshire, is excited to be joining a company that is achieving year on year growth. “It is a very exciting period for livestock nutrition and I am very much looking forward to helping Animax achieve continued sales growth in Scotland," he said.

Veterinarian Les Porter, who founded Animax Ltd in 1982, said he was delighted to be employing such high quality staff in key areas. “The North of England and Scotland are two important regions for Animax. Mr Mellor and Mr MacKenzie will be integral in helping the company with its continued sales growth in those areas," he said.
