Tierra del Fuego Declared Brucellosis Free

ARGENTINA - The Argentine food safety and animal health authority SENASA has declared Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands free of brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis.

The rule signed by President Jorge Amaya, will be published in coming days in the Official Gazette.

The rule also prohibits vaccination against bovine brucellosis in the province.

It also states that all producers, veterinarians and other health professionals are required to report any suspicions or evidence of brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis.

In making the declaration the authority took into account that there have been no reports of clinical cases or lesions consistent with these diseases in the cattle population in the province.
