The event, organised as part of the Defra Link funded research project on woodchip pads, will be hosted by Chris Blundell and Ray Garnett at Clinque Cliff Grange Farm in Thirsk, Yorkshire, on Tuesday 15 February, and will be beneficial to all farmers who have concerns about over-wintering costs and are looking for cheap, viable alternatives for out-wintering.

Independent specialists from ADAS and the Farm Consultancy Group, along with Mr Blundell and Mr Garnett will talk about their experiences of running woodchip pads whilst thinking about the associated cost, construction, management and design.

Alongside this there will be a presentation on the key requirements for an effective cattle handling system, including how cattle respond to their environment, by Miriam Parker, a designer of livestock handling systems the world over. In the afternoon there is the opportunity for attendees to go on a farm walk.
