CDC Renews Funding For Scholarship Programme
CANADA - The Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) will continue to fund its successful graduate Scholarship Programme as of August 1, 2011. This announcement was made by CEO John Core at the CDC's annual public meeting on January 25.

"We can't overestimate this programme's contribution to the development of dairy sciences and the dairy economy in Canada," says John Core. "Since the Programme was launched in June 2006, more than 40 scholarships have been granted to masters students and over 20 scholarships have been awarded to students at the Ph.D. level."
Masters and Ph.D. students whose research contributes to the Canadian dairy industry will still be eligible to receive $20,000 per year for up to two years or $30,000 per year for up to three years, respectively, to finance their studies. Canadian citizens and permanent residents enrolled in full time graduate studies related to dairy policy, production, or processing are eligible.
An evaluation of the CDC Scholarship Programme conducted in June 2010 confirmed the programme's success and prompted its renewal. The CDC will grant $3 million in scholarships over five years to participating institutions across Canada. Institutions will be encouraged to match the contributions made by the CDC.
